It's like a modelling agency

UrumaDelvi has created over 500 characters to date. This character bank is like a modelling agency: some of the characters have made their debut on the catwalk, while others are spending their apprenticeship in the studio. The character line-up here introduces our top “models” in Japan. Check out UrumaDelvi's adorable, one-of-a-kind characters (head shots and promos included)!

Bottom Biting Bug

This character was born in 2003 as a web animation featuring song and dance. In 2007, we reproduced it for NHK (Japan’s public broadcasting network). Bottom Biting Bug (BBB) became an overnight sensation, recording 2.5 million down-loads, 270,000 DVDs sold and exceeding over 300 character items. NHK started BBB's series animation in 2012.

Twin Obaké

This is the world of Twin Obake and their friends. In Japanese, "Obake" essentially means ghost, but includes all super-natural creatures. Our Obake are actually more on the cute and weird side than scary. We greatly anticipate a movie or animation series for Twin Obake. And, as a step in that direction, we have published three books.

Dodobongo

He's a dog. He's a bit old. And he's slow... But he's cute! His first appearance was as an extra in an animation series, but he soon overshadowed the main characters! In 2012, we released a Dodobongo picture book and song. And, as a testament to his popularity, this endearing pooch has been celebrated in a wide variety of merchandise.

Mr. Calpaccio

This character was created in 2005 for an animation called "(a long day of) Mr. Calpaccio". Although UrumaDelvi images are usually featured in vivid colors, Mr. Calpaccio is modeled in basic black and white. Free from color, we were able to design solid graphics and design anima-tion freely.

Shikato

Shikato debuted in the 1990s as an animation character for the TV program "Ugo-Ugo-Luhga." Shikato walks, but only in a straight line... and only with yodeling as the background music of choice. Collisions, cliffhangers and out-of-control spinning prevail! Shikato is loved not only in Japan but throughout the world.

TETE x METE

TETE x METE made their first appearance in 2006. TETE is the hand-shaped one and METE is its sidekick. The small bugs are called "Simusi" and they all are children of island fairies. This vividly colorful world is rumored to be the brainchild of "an American cartoon-loving designer living on the island of Bali."
